There are no limits to the number of bicycles that a resident can have registered. The program is computer based and all information is kept within the Pembroke Police Department secured computer files.

Information needed to register a bicycle includes: the owners name and address with telephone number, the brand, model and serial number of the bicycle. The bicycle will receive a sticker that is placed on the bicycle.

The bicycle registration process serves many purposes including the following: If the bicycle is found abandoned at any given location, the investigating officer can cross-reference the serial number of the bicycle, retrieve the ownership information and return the bicycle to the owner. The bicycle registration is utilized as a crime-fighting tool. Should a bicycle become stolen, the information that is stored in the database can be transferred to the national database computer system enabling the bicycle to be returned to the owner when found no matter where it may be in the country.
