Resident Piston/Revolver License Applications: To lawfully possess a loaded concealed firearm you must possess a valid license. The police department processes applications and a criminal record check is performed by the NH State Police Records Department. The license fee is $ 10.00, which is valid for four years. Application forms are available free at the police department. Please note that the license is only valid in the State of New Hampshire.

Tours: Department tours are available to youth groups and other interested parties. To set up a tour of the police station, call the administrative office during regular business hours at (603) 485-9173.

Police Patches: Since the publishing of this web page we have received numerous requests from individuals requesting police shoulder patches for their collections. The shoulder patch of the Pembroke Police Department is an official part of the uniform. As such we will only send a patch to another police department for display purposes when requested on official letterhead by the agency. In the spirit of the fraternal nature of law enforcement, we ask that your agency include its patch in the request.

Fingerprinting: The police department will fingerprint residents for official reasons free of charge. All others will be charged $10.00 for up to two fingerprint cards. The police department will only provide this service on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please note that we do our fingerprinting in our Booking Room and if it is being used for an arrest, we will not allow civilian fingerprints to be taken. Also note that is your responsibility to forward your fingerprint cards to the proper authority; we do not transfer civilian fingerprint cards.

Free Gun Locks: The Pembroke Police Department is presently offering cable-style gunlocks free to residents of Pembroke. Due to limited supply of locks, the locks are distributed on a first come first serve basis.

Residents can pick up the locks at the Pembroke Police Department at the Safety Center located at 247 Pembroke Street during normal business hours Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

These locks are made possible through the Project Home-Safe. This project is a nationwide program of the National Shooting Sports Foundation and its community partners to help ensure safe and responsible firearm ownership and storage.

It is important for residents to be aware of the laws pertaining to Negligent Storage of Firearms. Under Chapter 650-C in the NH Criminal Code under section: 650-C:1 Negligent Storage of Firearms, which in part says:

  1. Any person who stores or leaves on premises under that person's control a loaded firearm, and who knows or reasonably should know that a child (under 16 years old) is likely to gain access to the firearms without the permission of the child's parent or guardian, is guilty of a violation if a child gains access to a firearm and:
    1. The firearm is used in a reckless or threatening manner.
    2. The firearm is used during the commission of any misdemeanor or felony; or
    3. The firearm is negligently or recklessly discharged.
  2. Any person who violates paragraph III shall be fined not more than $1,000.
  3. The above section shall not apply whenever
    1. The firearm is kept secured in a locked box, gun safe, or other secure locked space, or in a location which a reasonable person would believe to be secure, or is secured with a trigger lock or similar device that prevents the firearm from discharging

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE OWNER OF A FIREARM SEEK FIREARM SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FROM A CERTIFIED FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR AND KEEP FIREARMS SECURED FROM UNAUTHORIZED USE.
