Recycling
The Town of Pembroke is committed to recycling and has made it easier for residents to dispose of items properly. Our collection truck has two compartments one for trash and one for recyclables. Using the Single Stream method, multiple items can be put in the curbside recycle cart. The brochure here shows what is and is not acceptable. Please take time to look this over. For further information on rules for disposal of none recyclables please see the Town Code Chapter 133.
Bring to the Transfer Station for Recycling:
These additional items are recyclable but not allowed in the recycle cart include Electronics (TV’s, Computers, Stereo systems, etc.) Printer cartridges (laser or ink jet), Rechargeable batteries, Button Cell Batteries, Alkaline, Zinc & Lithium Batteries, Auto waste (used oil, antifreeze, batteries) Fluorescent bulbs, Cell phones, Scrap metal, Appliances, Propane tanks and more. Please bring them to the Transfer Station on Tuesdays or Saturdays.
Recycling Tips:
- Please place your carts curbside by 6:45 am on the day of collection and not earlier that the previous evening
- Carts are not to be left curbside overnight after the day of collection
- Please place your carts with the wheels facing the house so the lid opens towards the street
- Please place your carts at least five feet away from objects if possible (including the other cart)
- Please do not overload carts. If you have excess trash/recycling you must bring it to the Transfer Station
- Please breakdown cardboard boxes
- Please place shredded paper in a paper bag and staple the top closed
