Recreation Commission

The Pembroke Recreation Commission is appointed by the Board of Selectmen and it oversees the operation of the Recreation Department. Recreation programming is overseen by the Program Supervisor who schedules events and activities at Gamelin Memorial Field, located at the end of Pleasant Street, and other locations within the community. The Recreation Commission is responsible for making and enforcing rules and regulations governing the use of Town recreation facilities; establishing reasonable fees and charges for the use of Town recreational facilities; and entering into contracts with organizations for the purpose of conducting leisure-time programs.

Facilities at Memorial Field include: basketball court; four ball fields (one lighted) for baseball and softball; soccer field; beach volleyball court; fitness course; horseshoe pits; playground; various picnic areas; pavilion; gazebo; and a boat launch area. All facilities are maintained by the Department’s summer employees and by volunteers from the community.

The Department offers its own recreation programs such as the summer recreation program, swimming lessons, tennis lessons, and field hockey lessons. The Department also supports programs conducted by other volunteers, including the Suncook Youth Soccer League, Suncook Little League, Suncook Rod and Gun Club fishing derby, Old Home Day, D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament and other similar programs.
