Membership Information

All residents and landowners of Pembroke are eligible for a library card. Children 5 years and older can also receive a card with a parent’s permission. Non-residents may purchase one family card for $30.00 per year.

We have books for adults and children, large print books, magazines, adult and children's audio and video tapes, CD's and DVD's. We also have a telescope that can be checked out.

The Pembroke Town Library is part of a Downloadable Audiobook Consortium. Ask a staff member for more information.

Adults may check out 15 items with a limit of 3 movies or audios at a time. Children are allowed 3 items per card, but movies must be checked out by a parent or guardian. Books, except the newest adult fiction, may go home for 3 weeks. The new books go home for 7 days as well as movies and magazines. Audio materials are loaned for a 2-week period. You may call or stop in for one renewal – if no one else is waiting! One day grace is allowed on all materials, after that, the appropriate fine will be accessed.

Interlibrary loan is available to patrons in good standing. This means, if the item that you are looking for is not available at the Pembroke Town Library, we will go through the state library to locate a copy. We cannot request any item that is newer than 6 months old.

The library currently has 6 computers for adult use and 2 for children under the age of 12. One workstation is available for document preparation. All children under the age of 18 must have a signed permission slip by a parent or guardian that is kept on file. Computer users are required to sign in and sign out and printing is $.10 a page. If you have your own laptop, we do have WiFi available!

Services offered for use in the library include newspapers, reference books, public access computers, reading/study areas, photocopier, fax machine, genealogical and local historic information, consumer buying guides and a high intensity reading lamp.

Passes are available to be reserved and signed out by patrons in good standing.
