Disposing of Mercury
As of January 1, 2008, the State of New Hampshire law bans the disposal of mercury-containing items in the trash. Pembroke does accept the following items at the Transfer Station on Tuesday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m to 3:30 p.m. and we would be happy to recycle them for you free of charge.
- Fluorescent Lamps
- Compact Fluorescent Lamps
- Button Batteries
Pembroke does not accept the following items at the Transfer Station.
- Thermometers
- Thermostats
- Tilt Switches
- Manometers
If you have to dispose of these items please call the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Household Hazardous Waste Program at 603-271-2047 and they will be able to further instruct you.
